Hooking Up to Town Water
If you are on the Town's water main, you may be able to connect to municipal water.

To complete a water hookup application, follow these steps:
Prior to applying for a new water hookup, review local laws and ordinances:
- Standard Specifications and Details for Ulysses Water
- Local Law 1 of 2003- Ulysses Water Law
- Town Code Chapter 200
The work must be done by a town-approved plumbing contractor.
- Choose a contractor from the Town-Approved Contractor list OR
- Complete "New Contractor Registration"
- After a contractor is chosen, a permit application must be completed. No work is authorized until a permit has been issued.
- Completion of this application is required for a permit to be issued.
- Coordinate work with the Department of Public Works Director.
- Other permits: If residence is on a County or State road, you must contact the Tompkins County Highway Division or NYSDOT. A permit for working in their right of way is likely required.
4. Plumbing Inspections
- Do not cover, bury or otherwise hide any plumbing prior to having it properly inspected and approved by the Town of Ulysses.
- If work is covered before inspection, it will be the full responsibility of the property owner to uncover it.
- Inspections are required to verify plumbing is in compliance with all applicable New York State and local building codes.
- At the time the permit is issued, the manner of inspections included in the permit is explained. Additional inspection trips can be provided at additional cost.
