HABITAT NATURE PRESERVE
In 2018, the Town purchased 34 acres of second-growth forest, formerly owned by Habitat for Humanity, adjacent to Salo Drive and Trumansburg Creek. It was designated a natural area for the community to enjoy and learn about the plants and animals that inhabit this area. Leadership for this land acquisition, now known as the Habitat Preserve, was provided by Elizabeth Thomas, Ulysses Town Supervisor from 2013 to 2020.
The Town Board established an advisory committee charged with recommending guidelines for the use, promotion, and maintenance of preserve. Link to Habitat Nature Preserve Advisory Committee page.
